Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
thera.news is published by AdvancedCare USA Inc. This policy explains what we collect when you read the site or contact us, why we collect it, and how to get it removed.
We are a news and reference publication. We are not a healthcare provider. Nothing you send us is protected health information, and nothing here is medical advice.
The short version
- You can read every page on this site without giving us anything.
- We use analytics to see which pages are read. We do not sell data and we do not build advertising profiles.
- If you subscribe to the newsletter or send us a message, we keep your email address so we can reply or send the digest. You can have it deleted at any time by emailing contact@theranews.net.
- Please do not send us medical details. We cannot act on them and would rather not hold them.
What we collect
When you just read
We use two analytics services on every page:
- Google Analytics 4 (property
G-FSZT3NKQJL), configured with IP anonymisation enabled. It records page views, approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, referring site, and device and browser type. It sets cookies in your browser. - PostHog, which records the same broad usage patterns so we can tell whether the site is working. It is configured to create a profile only for identified users, and we do not identify readers.
Neither service is given your name, and we do not attempt to work out who individual readers are. Both are third-party processors with their own privacy policies: Google and PostHog.
You can block both with any standard content blocker, and the site will work normally.
When you subscribe to the newsletter
We ask only for an email address. It is stored in our own self-hosted mailing-list system (Listmonk) on our own infrastructure, and used solely to send the digest. This list is single opt-in — you are subscribed immediately and no confirmation email is sent. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
When you use the contact or report form
We ask for a name, an email address, an optional phone number, an optional practice name, and your message. These go into our customer relationship system (Mautic), hosted on our own infrastructure, and are used to reply to you and to follow up if you asked us to.
We do not need — and ask you not to send — any information about your own health, a patient’s health, or anything else you would not want held outside a clinical record system.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use it to build advertising or behavioural profiles.
- We do not run third-party advertising on this site.
- We do not require an account, and we do not take payments.
Who your information is shared with
Only the processors needed to run the site: Google (analytics), PostHog (analytics), Microsoft Azure (hosting), and Cloudflare (DNS and edge routing for our redirecting domains). Newsletter and enquiry data stay on infrastructure we control and are not passed to a third-party marketing platform.
We may disclose information if we are legally required to.
How long we keep it
- Analytics: retained by Google and PostHog under their own retention settings; we do not hold a separate copy.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Enquiries: kept while we are dealing with your message and for a reasonable period afterwards so we have a record of the correspondence.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. If you are in the EU or UK you have these rights under the GDPR; if you are in California you have them under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Since we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Email contact@theranews.net and we will action it. We do not charge for this.
About the article archive
This site republishes a large archive of summarised news items about behavioural health. Each carries the name of the outlet that originally reported it and a link to the original article. If you are a rights holder and want an item removed or corrected, email contact@theranews.net and we will deal with it promptly.
Children
This site is written for clinicians, clinic operators and billers. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the site.
